One-on-one attention from professors is a hallmark of the Department of Art and an advantage of our classes that are purposely kept small. Our studio facilities are well equipped, with space devoted to each discipline: painting, digital art, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture.

Ashland University offers a diverse Fine Art major with concentrations in five areas that include:

  • Painting
  • Digital Art
  • Printmaking
  • Ceramics
  • Sculpture

You begin by taking classes in introductory drawing, design and art history — the Art Foundations Sequence. Your upper-level courses allow you to explore a range of media and creative ideas that advance your skill as an artist and help you hone your skills of critical analysis. You’ll study with professors who are practicing artists in the Fine Art medium they teach. And, you’ll get lots of one-on-one attention in class and in our well-lit, well-ventilated studios with space devoted to each discipline.
